Preparing for Christmas in the early Fall

I know what you're thinking and let me address the elephant in the room: I am definitely not one of those people who listen to Christmas music as soon as they see the first leaf on the ground. I actually enjoy Autumn. A lot. I would even say it's my all time favorite season, it's just beautiful and the indie moody songs that I like to listen to never sound better.

...BUT! There is a good reason why one should start thinking of Christmas earlier than December and I am here to tell you my opinion why this could be in our advantage.

First of all: airplane tickets. They are more expensive than ever in this time of the year. As an Erasmus student I'm quite far from my family but knowing my mom she would rather make me walk all over there than spending a holiday alone. It's really important for my family to be by the Christmas tree for some reason but who am I to judge them.

Now it's no surprise I am cheap about airplane tickets, after all it was me who suggested that I can take the plane after the last flying plane in coronatime because "moooom, that one is only ten euros!"

If you're starting to look in advance, you can find great deals around a month before you want to fly. Be sure you're looking even before that 1 month period and use the incognito tab trick so your FBI agent doesn't make the prices go up.

Second of all: presents. With this I basically covered everything related to Christmas. There are many reasons why you should get those out from your sight as soon as possible and here are some:

  1. In the Christmas time the stuff you can get in shop are more expensive and more generic may I say. That snowflake necklace might be cute but I most certainly wouldn't wear it on most days of the year. It's like "Yeah, Susan, the drunk Santa Claus in this snow globe is hilarious but do you really expect me to keep it on my drawer?"

  2. A really good present requires some thinking. If you just mindlessly buy something for the other one, why don't you might as well just give them the money you bought the stuff on.

  3. This one is my personal idea. I like to support independent creators which you can easily find on Etsy. There are many great options like jewelry, drawings, unique posters and many more. The good and the bad thing is that these creators are from all around the world. It's good because you can choose stuff that's not available in your country but the shipping time can take forever. (I ordered a nose ring from California in the end of July. It's October. Still didn't arrive. :( )

I'm definitely not saying that you can't give good presents you prepare in last minute (I'm pretty sure a fresh brownie is more appreciated than a 2 months old one). In conclusion, you do you.
