After the first night few of us were struggling with being tired or just hungover in general. There was plenty of free time so we decided to take our little tour with my polish roommates, cause we had hours to kill. To be honest I don't even know where we went and why we went there but enjoy the pictures I took.
After the free time was over we all met at Caves of Calém for a fancy wine tasting experience. Our tour guide explained how the wine is made, the facts about the runlets and the difference between the many many types of wine they make. We ended the tour in a big hall where two glasses of wine were waiting for us.
As a university student I always opt for buying the cheapest one cause alcohol is alcohol and the effect is what counts but it was so nice to drink some quality wine while pretending to be fancier than we actually are.
Feeling a bit dizzy after the wine rush in our blood, we walked a few minutes to board on a ship. This kinds of things are the ones I would never chose to do when I'm traveling solo because let's face it, it's a skippable expense but oh, I'm so glad we did this because seeing Porto from the water is something else. The rocks, the colorful houses, the bridges , all looked so unbelievably beautiful from this perspective.
Again on land, we had plenty of time to find something to eat or explore more of the city. We decided to go to this homely and small sandwich place in the heart of Porto where they make gourmet food for such a cheap price.
At night (after I found two mates from the group with guitars and jamming with them for a while) we all went back to the same place we were eating on the first place where we had our own little party and then going to the same party place where the theme of the day was Angels and Devils and the music was much better for my taste at least. The rest is history.
On Sunday morning we decided to not be cheap for once and pay the fee for the Livraria Lello which is the bookstore that inspired J. K. Rowling to write the Harry Potter series. To be totally honest, I hated the experience. I can tolerate some crowds, but I am not a fan of being crashed in a pile of people. The sight of so many people took away the magic of the beautiful architecture and books that was put into this bookstore. I bet J. K. Rowling wouldn't have written the series if she would have seen the store in the condition it is today.
However, I ended up buying a beautiful edition of The Art of War since the fee you pay to enter the shop is subtracted from the price of a purchase.
On our way back to Lisbon we stopped in Aveiro which is the small Venice of Portugal and it has a famous dish called ovos moles made from eggs (I noticed that Portuguese people got very creative with the egg yolk when it comes to desserts )
After the short one hour stop we return the bus and after a few hours acting like we are middle school students we got back to Lisbon and I officially moved to a new place again, but the time I unpacked my things cause I genuinely thought I will stay.
By the end of the trip, I can safely say that I don't feel lost in Lisbon anymore, I have found people who I can call family and their presence truly feels like a cozy home after this trip.
Ps: unfortunately I lost my photos of these days so I had to use the photos provided by ESN.
