I already wrote about the magical tiles of Portugal but as a spontaneous idea of my flat mate, we decided to visit the National Tile Museum of Lisbon.
First of all, it is a beautiful museum building with a gorgeous garden, so it works great even if someone just wants to hang out in a calming green place.
The exhibition is held in an old building that takes the visitors in a different era and it presents the history of the tiles and example pieces.
It not only includes the azulejos of Lisbon but it takes you to Porto without even buying the bus ticket.
One thing me and my friend appreciated the most is that the exhibition includes the works of the students of Lisbon's high school students who are studying ceramics and who are incredibly talented. It was definitely our favorite part of the museum to see their new ideas and perspectives come to life.
As another interesting aspect, the museum also embodies a breathtaking church, so if you are religious you can even stop for a prayer on your visit.
I recommend everybody to visit this museum, since the idea of looking at tiles might sound boring at first but I can tell from experience that it was worth the visit - and after all it was a free pass because we visited it on a Sunday morning.
