I don't even know what would I do if there wasn't for the university projects at this point. Oh wait, I know because that's how our brains work: whenever there's something to do we can get ourselves busy with literally anything else. The idea for today's post was inspired by all the things I would do instead of what I should do to inspire the ones who actually don't have these tasks lying around or were responsible enough to get them out of sight as soon as they could. Here are some ideas to keep you occupied in the times of the void - and hopefully keep you sane.
1.Get lost in a book
We can't use the "too many books and too little time" excuse anymore since we have plenty of time in our hands. Remember all the books you bought and then never even touched it after you put them on the shelves? Well, their time has arrived.
2.Play some tunes
While music can be a great background noise, there's something so soothing and calming when you grab the instrument and start playing. Have some mercy on that guitar sitting in the corner or the piano catching dust across the room, tune it and sing your heart out. If you get easily bored, challenge yourself with harder riffs than the ones you would usually go for. If you don't have any instruments lying around, you can still have a small karaoke party by yourself, with you flatmates, family or even facetiming your distant friends. It doesn't really matter how good or bad you are as long as you have fun!
3.Start moving
It's so easy to just stick to the TV or binge watch Netflix until you just watched everything but it's important to stay active. The walking and movements we would do in our everyday life are not a part of our days anymore. Instead of turning into a couch potato we should push ourselves a little bit and get moving and maybe all the snacks won't cause as much harm as they would do otherwise. It's also a great time to start a fitness challenge, since there won't be any excuse like exhaustion from the daily pandemonium.
4.Invest some time in self care
I know it seems like time is very slow and silent now, but why won't we turn it in our advance? Self-care isn't always a priority when life gets busy but let's reflect on 2019's theme and feel a little self-love. Take that bath smelling like a garden from all those precious essential oils, put on that face mask you put away for special events only, light a candle, murmur some magic spells to keep you beautiful and young, you know the deal. While there's no doubt how important is to care for the body, you can use this time for so much more. We all feel overwhelmed, no one knows what future holds so it's more important than ever to give an extra attention for the soul, meditate, cleanse, reevaluate. If the Coronavirus case taught us anything, it is about how so many things we thought would be essential are not. Maybe it's the perfect time to let go of things, toxic beliefs and people you've been holding on for way too long.
5.Experiment with your cooking skills
It's time to switch up the old routine and opt for new recipes whether you're an amateur or already a professional. There are plenty of recipes on the internet for every diet. I personally like to try out the recipes from https://www.budgetbytes.com/ because they have the best recipes for broke students like me. I know, it's way easier to order some takeaway, but a little effort goes a long way. You know the sayings: there's nothing like a homemade meal and you are what you eat.
6.Dream it, paint it
Honestly, is there even a better time spent than following a Bob Ross tutorial? This man is so pure and talented, that he will certainly smuggle some positive energy in your day. You can free style as well, creating something new from scratch is very therapeutic as well. If you didn't find your style yet, I highly advise you to try out new techniques and materials, maybe you're an embroidery genius and never even knew about it.
